Mind Stress

Stress Is Not the Enemy — Your Response Is

Stress itself is a natural survival mechanism. The problem starts when it becomes chronic and we lose the ability to return to baseline. Understanding the difference between acute stress, which sharpens focus, and chronic stress, which erodes health, is the first step toward managing it. Common signs of chronic stress include persistent fatigue, irritability, muscle tension, and difficulty concentrating. Start by identifying your top three stressors and rating each from one to ten. Then ask: which of these can I influence, and which do I need to accept? For controllable stressors, break the problem into the smallest possible next step. For the rest, practice radical acceptance — acknowledging reality without wasting energy fighting what you cannot change. Pair this with daily nervous system resets like cold water on your wrists, a two-minute walk, or progressive muscle relaxation. Over weeks you will notice your recovery window shrinking and your capacity growing.
